Hi there!

I messed up a bit.

Last night I changed the permalink structure of every post in the blog in order to improve my SEO and SERPs -search engine rankings in layman terms ;)- but while doing so, all the social sharing buttons at the bottom of each post lost their share count.

Truth be told, when people see that something has been shared by others, they tend to keep sharing. This is what’s called social proof.

Inversely, if someone sees zeros across al social networks, he or she may instantly deem the post “unworthy”, sometimes not even reading it.

Gotta ask you for a favor now, smart and selfless readers.

After you read a post, please take a second to tweet, like, stumble or +1 it to help me get those posts back to their former glory.

That second of your life will be greatly appreciated by yours truly.

Thank you!

Fernando

Guest post by Sam Turner - According to a recent survey, 43% of Londoners use social media when looking for a job. But what are the implications of these findings for employers?

The survey in question, along with accompanying infographic (see below) was undertaken by LondonLovesJobs.com, a website advertising jobs in London, who surveyed 500 business leaders and 500 other adults in Greater London. As well as the high proportion of people using social media to search for a job, the data also tells us that business leaders, 30% of who said they would search for a job on LinkedIn, are especially likely to use social media when searching for a job. Meanwhile men are more likely to search on social media than women, with 52% of men indicating they search for jobs this way as opposed to just 33% of women.

Power is back. It was gone for 1 day. Irene wasn’t bad, at least not as bad as CNN wanted you to think.

Electricity went bye-bye yesterday at 9:30pm. It started raining and getting a bit windy. By 11:30pm the creek by our place grew from its usual 4ft to 30ft. At 12:30am there was a slight breeze and not even a drop of water pouring down.

I woke up this morning to witness the aftermath: a slightly eroded creek and a few branches on the ground. Irene was gone. I checked the news on my phone (God bless smartphones) and Irene was already dumping her load on NYC. Parts of the media were already questioning if they had gotten too far (mea culpa anyone?).

Google is too slow, RSS is too slow, traditional media is too slow, printed media is waaaay to slow. Now it seems that anything that has happened more than 20 seconds ago is old. The first sentence of this post is old (depending on how fast you read… wait… now ...

Today, we are used to share ourselves with, almost literally, the rest of the world. Hundreds, thousands of people in some cases are able to see us, watch us, read us.
We are actually broadcasting our lives. Every little aspect of our lives (thoughts, feelings, knowledge) is being transmitted to known ...
