Wanna know your genetic health risks? How about tracking back your genetic ancestry up to 10.000 years into the past and know what traits you inherited from your caveman grandpa?

Two years ago, the same service used to cost $1000 or more. Pathway Genomics now provides an affordable DNA testing service. According to their site, they claim to:

  • Identify genetic health and drug response
  • Personalize your medical care
  • Help your doctor help you
  • Uncover your ancestral path
  • Explore the traits that make you unique

The process is simple. Sign up, get a sample tube in your mailbox, spit in it and ship it back.

If  you find out that you are genetically prone to having lung cancer and you smoke, then you won’t find a more compelling reason to quit. And it doesn’t end here. There are more than 90 health conditions that can be assessed through this service.

So, if you feel like tossing a couple of bucks towards this new form of life insurance, I believe that the cost-benefit relationship is more than good.
